Cooking Steps:
- Start by trimming the ends of the bok choy and cutting them crosswise into strips. Rinse them well under cold water to remove any dirt or grit.
- In a large wok or skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Allow it to get hot but not smoking.
- Once the oil is hot, add the bok choy strips. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they start to wilt and become tender-crisp.
- Pour in 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Stir well to coat the bok choy evenly.
- Add 2 tablespoons of water to the pan. This will create steam and help cook the bok choy evenly. Continue to stir-fry for another minute, allowing the flavors to meld.
- If desired, sprinkle ½ teaspoon of salt for additional seasoning. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to enrich the flavor. Stir until the butter is melted and coats the bok choy.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. If you like, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top for an extra crunch. Enjoy your delicious stir-fried bok choy!
Notes
- Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary for even cooking.
- Ensure your oil is hot enough for the perfect stir-fry texture.
- Customize the sauce to your taste; a splash of rice vinegar adds tang.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for an extra kick.
