Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef fresh
  • 1 package taco seasoning can be a pre-made blend or mixed spices
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sour cream for topping
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese freshly grated
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese freshly grated
  • 2-3 jalapeño peppers sliced
  • 1/2 cup black olives sliced
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1/4 cup additional sour cream for serving
  • 1/2 cup guacamole for topping
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro freshly chopped for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Once the beef is no longer pink, drain any excess fat.
  2. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked beef and pour in the 1/4 cup of water. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a baking sheet, spread out a generous layer of tortilla chips. Spoon the seasoned beef evenly over the chips.
  4. Sprinkle the freshly grated cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses generously over the beef and chips. The more cheese, the better!
  5. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  6. Once out of the oven, top the nachos with sliced jalapeños, black olives, and halved cherry tomatoes. Drizzle with sour cream and guacamole, then sprinkle with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately and enjoy the cheesy, crunchy goodness!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use freshly grated cheese instead of pre-shredded.
  • To keep chips crispy, serve toppings on the side.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
